While most see a flood as a dead end, 3,720 young Cameroonians see it as a call to action.
We are incredibly proud to share the U-Report 2025 Recap Newsletter, a testament to the remarkable commitment of youth who have moved beyond digital dialogue to become frontline actors in community resilience.
From Reporting to Responding
In 2025, we didn't just listen; we innovated. Through a partnership between UNICEF Cameroon and the Ministry of Youth and Civic Education (MINJEC), our network grew from 15 to 36 physical communities nationwide.
The highlight of the year was the launch of the U-Responders concept. We trained 270 young people as trusted community facilitators, equipped with first-aid skills from the Red Cross to provide rapid responses during climate disasters and health emergencies.
2025 Impact Highlights:
Education & Solidarity: U-Reporters in Maroua formed "human dikes" to carry pupils across flooded areas, ensuring they reached school safely.
Healthcare Access: In the Guirvidik health district, youth built sandbag dikes to restore access for medical staff and patients after devastating floods.
Environmental Protection: 150 trees were replanted in flooded schools in Maga to build long-term climate resilience.
National Reach: From the Far North (2,983 enrolled youth) to the South, young people are leading the charge in #WASH, civic engagement, and the fight against gender-based violence.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As Nadine Perrault, UNICEF Cameroon Representative, notes, the foundations are now laid for an even stronger commitment. Our goal is to continue to make youth voices heard and drive lasting change across every region.
Together, we are transforming the future of Cameroon.
